Medik8 Has Arrived at Maison Derme
Intelligent skincare, progressive routines and a philosophy built around consistency
Medik8 has officially arrived at Maison Derme.
It’s a brand our team has been particularly excited to introduce because its philosophy aligns so closely with the way we believe professional skincare should be approached: intelligently, progressively and with a clear understanding of what each product is trying to achieve.
Medik8 has become one of the most recognisable professional skincare brands in the UK, particularly because of its focus on vitamin C, sunscreen and vitamin A.
But behind those well-known ingredients sits a much broader range designed to address concerns including ageing, pigmentation, blemishes, dehydration, sensitivity and uneven skin texture.
For Maison Derme, Medik8 is not simply another retail range.
It is becoming part of the wider client journey.
Why we chose Medik8
Our treatment philosophy has always been built around long-term skin health rather than quick fixes.
That means looking beyond the treatment room.
A professional facial or advanced treatment may play an important role in a client’s plan, but what happens during the days and weeks between appointments is often just as significant.
This is where homecare becomes so important.
Medik8 gives us the ability to build straightforward routines around proven skincare principles without making the process unnecessarily complicated.
For some clients, that may mean establishing the basics first.
For others, it may mean developing a more advanced programme involving antioxidants, exfoliating acids, peptides or progressive strengths of retinal.
What matters is that the routine fits the individual.
The CSA philosophy
One of the concepts most closely associated with Medik8 is its CSA philosophy: vitamin C and sunscreen in the morning, followed by vitamin A in the evening.
It is deliberately simple.
Vitamin C is commonly used within professional skincare routines for its antioxidant properties and its ability to support brighter, more even-looking skin.
Daily SPF helps protect the skin from ultraviolet exposure — one of the major external contributors to visible skin ageing and pigmentation.
Vitamin A, including retinal, is then typically used in evening routines to support skin renewal and improve the appearance of concerns such as texture, fine lines and uneven tone.
That does not mean every person should immediately start using the strongest available vitamin A product.
Quite the opposite.
One of the things we particularly like about Medik8 is the ability to progress gradually.
A progressive approach to vitamin A
Medik8’s Crystal Retinal range has become one of the brand’s best-known product families.
The idea of different strengths allows a client to begin at an appropriate level and progress only when their skin is ready.
This is much closer to the way we like to work clinically.
Skincare should not be a competition to use the strongest possible product.
Tolerance, consistency and correct usage matter far more.
A lower-strength product used correctly and consistently can be considerably more useful than an aggressive routine that someone can only tolerate occasionally.
At Maison Derme, we can therefore look at a client’s previous experience with retinoids, current skin condition and wider routine before recommending where to begin.
Some of our Medik8 favourites
C-Tetra is a popular introduction to vitamin C and can work particularly well for clients looking to introduce antioxidant support into their morning routine.
For clients seeking something more advanced, the Medik8 vitamin C portfolio allows routines to be adjusted according to skin type, goals and tolerance.
Crystal Retinal is naturally another area we expect to work with extensively because of its progressive structure.
Surface Radiance Cleanse is a well-known option for clients wanting an exfoliating cleanser, while other Medik8 cleansers allow us to adapt the first stage of the routine according to whether the skin is oily, dry, sensitive or prone to congestion.
Hydration is another important part of the portfolio.
Products containing hyaluronic acid and barrier-supportive ingredients can be incorporated where dehydration is contributing to tightness, dullness or a compromised-feeling complexion.
And, crucially, Medik8 offers daily SPF options to help clients protect the work they are putting into the rest of their routine.
Medik8 and pigmentation
Pigmentation is one area where Medik8 can become particularly useful within a structured homecare programme.
Uneven pigmentation can develop for a variety of reasons, including UV exposure, previous inflammation and hormonal influences.
Because of this, there is rarely one universal “pigmentation product”.
A well-designed routine may instead involve several complementary steps.
Antioxidant support during the day, consistent sun protection and carefully introduced vitamin A can all play a part, while targeted ingredients may be added depending on the individual.
This is also where professional assessment becomes valuable.
Shilan, our pharmacist prescriber, works within the Maison Derme team and contributes additional clinical insight where clients have more persistent or complex skin concerns.
Her approach reinforces something we talk about frequently in clinic: skincare should be selected because there is a reason for using it, not simply because an ingredient is fashionable.
Professional treatments are coming too
Medik8 is already available online through Maison Derme for approved clients, allowing existing clients to begin or continue their recommended homecare.
The next stage is bringing the professional treatment side fully into the clinic.
Our practitioners are undertaking Medik8 professional training so that treatments and homecare can work together rather than existing as two separate parts of the client experience.
From 14 October, Medik8 treatments will begin becoming available to book at Maison Derme.
This is something we are particularly excited about.
It means we can build a journey that may start with consultation, progress into an appropriate professional treatment and then continue at home with products chosen specifically to complement the plan.
Why approved online access matters to us
As Maison Derme grows, we know convenience matters.
Clients should not have to visit the clinic every time they need to replace a cleanser or serum they have already been recommended.
That is why Medik8 is available online for approved Maison Derme clients.
However, we still want professional guidance to sit behind that convenience.
Our online skincare offering is designed to be an extension of the clinic rather than a replacement for it.
Once a client has an established routine, online access makes replenishment simple. If the skin changes, concerns develop or a client wants to introduce something new, the team is there to review the routine first.
This allows us to combine convenience with responsible professional recommendation.
Start your Medik8 journey at Maison Derme
Whether you are completely new to professional skincare or already familiar with Medik8, our starting point remains the same: understanding your skin.
A consultation gives us the opportunity to talk through your concerns, current products and goals before deciding what — if anything — needs to change.
For some clients, the answer may be a very simple routine.
For others, Medik8 can become part of a longer-term programme combining professional treatments, homecare and regular review.
There is no need to rush.
Good skin journeys are usually built progressively.
Medik8 is available online now to approved Maison Derme clients, with professional Medik8 treatments available to book from 14 October.
